This is my first attempt at video from my nikon camera, but nothing is happening. It's been very quiet here today as we recover our equilibrium from the weekend's activities. Well, a play button has appeared! The kids did not come home for the holiday as Jake had several irons in the fire and Codi is suffering too much morning sickness to brave the car ride. Storms and tornadoes have hit all over the midwest this weekend, hopefully we are not in the path. In Iowa, though, the reality for people was blasted apart by twisters.

This week I'll ride down to school with Jen and the girls, then go home with Tara. We are all hoping to go see Sex and the City on Friday.

Hey, I Know You

It was wonderful this evening. Class reunion --I hadn't seen some of these mates for 15 years. Some just melted into instant communion again. Like we had just run out after the last bell. Some of our teachers were there and everyone was drunk on memories and potluck. Some had gained weight-me mostly--I'm going to blame it on my medicine! Some had gained weight living the good life! Less hair, more grandchildren. The school still smelled the same. The same gold velvet curtains on the stage in the cafeteria. Our class pic was in the hall in the old part of the school. There we were in 18 year old glory--mine was "Desiree Scott" in pink fluffy capelet sure to sell these pics to our moms. We went down and looked at all the changes. It was interesting to watch the same little groups pull together and laugh and giggle the night away. My hubby was there and steady as a rock. A great help. He knows so many of everyone. Some gray hair and bifocal glasses danced around the edges of the eye. I made loads of desserts and then we didn't need them and they came wiggling in the backseat of the truck and home into the cookie jar.

Well, I'm really tired.

A May morning full of dew and promise. Somehow I feel better. I can only really lay here from fatique, but getting that whole packing up stuff out of the way seems to have settled my mind. My mom called yesterday and backed out of going , but my friend J drove me down and we commenced with a brutal throwing out binge and give it away guilt assuaging. I kept all of my science and history books that went way back with me and then we put up a table of "take me home, I'm freeeeeee!" So it means I'm free. It was funny the friends who had kept in touch, rushed to hug and catch up. The ones who had not, hung back, the guilt of "you had really gone from my mind' making some conversations constrained. I was surprised by the reactions of one individual who met me with a rather angry face, of "YOU escaped, and you're probably getting paid to stay home" Well, I'll trade places with you right now. Jerk out my heart and give me yours. Wait, that would make me her, and really, that's not an option I want to consider. Well, it's a big day tomorrow as I have my 30 year class reunion. I'm off to color my hair and work on slimming outfit. I think I need to dazzle them from the neck up!!!

Step It Up a Notch

Once again I'm surprised. After 30 years you would think that surprises were over. E was so excited that I felt good enough to drag out 3 hoses, and spray furniture that he was okay with the mess. I got one teeny lecture about leaving the mule seat down when I have it parked under the trees. Trees, birds, pooped upon seats!! Yesterday the wind was still too much to do much gardening so I took scrapbook pages and just taped on pictures of my rose bushes that I have planted. Wow, okay, then I drew out plans of what is planted in each bed. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much organization. Now I just have it strung out everywhere, but it is a controlled mess, easily shoved into a box and under the bed if the president comes!!!!

I can't breathe right and it scares me to death. Death being a companion of someone who's heart does not seem to know the meaning of steady thump, thump, thump. It's happened before but last night was the worst. It starts with a muscle cramp in my chest. I don't have any other way to describe it . The same cramp that your leg gets. Then I can't swallow, and I'm left there holding the bag. Hanging in between panic and a stay clear headed chant.
It happened again today, the wind started to blow badly and I was trying to gather my little projects together. It blew my seedling pots all over the yard as I had them sitting on the rail soaking , ready to get a new batch of seeds. As I was hurrying to get them, the cramp happened. I can't use my arm very well or catch my breath. I have hoses hooked up everywhere, the mule is out. the lid off the paint. Eddy will be furious that there is a hose strung across the yard. Now the pots are all over the kitchen. Another fury. One of his cows was out and I have coaxed and chased her everywhere. I don't think that I have her in the right field. The fence barely reached over to the barn as it's missing pieces from the storm. Well , one more thing to incur wrath.
The wind might as well be hurricane strength. It's too strong to be out in it if your fighting gravity and heated air.
